There is one important argument to be made for keeping bike lanes adjacent to bus lanes in the center of the road (with proper physically built protections) and that is that if you prohibit turns across the median-aligned bus lane, bikes benefit from that as well. Turning conflicts are among the worst problems for cyclists so you may as well take advantage of any turn prohibitions you implement on a street.
